Before Arriving
To get the most out of working with the plants, it is recommended to prepare the body, ideally at least one week before arriving, by living as naturally as possible and avoiding unsuitable or toxic foods.
It is preferable to maintain this diet for at least one week after as well, to prolong the therapeutic effect.
It is recommended to avoid
The following foods: Fatty and heavy-to-digest foods, consumption of salt and sugar, pork and red meat, seafood, canned food, friend food, alcohol, coffee, carbonated drinks, spicy food, spices in general, aged or fermented foods, smoked foods, pickles, olives, soy sauce, teriyaki, miso, cold meats, sausages, aged cheeses, yogurt close to expiration date, St. Johns Wort, Ginseng, Rhodiola Rosea, Yerba Mate, etc.
In daily use products: chemicals in general (drugs, perfumes, nail polish, cosmetics, etc).
Recommended
Drink lots of fruit and vegetable juices, water, herbal teas, fruits, vegetables, fish and chicken.
At least two weeks before and after consumption
Any type of recreational drug, psycho-pharmaceuticals, especially anti-depressants, stimulants and anti-anxiety medications that contain opiates. Cough syrups, pain-killers, high blood pressure medications, vasodilatadors, barbiturates, medications for asthma, bronchitis and respiratory conditions should also be avoided.
At least 24 hours before beginning the program, avoid
All the above-mentioned foods, sexual contacts, situations that may generate anger, alcohol, and any of the medications on the following list.
Important
Medications especially contraindicated that require more time for cleansing:
Fluoxetine (Prozac and similar drugs) need at least 6 weeks of abstinence to be able to take Ayahuasca, and should always be stopped in a progressive manner.
Paxil, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Zoloft and other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) require a minimum of 5 weeks of abstinence and must also be gradually discontinued.
Those who are undergoing psychiatric treatment should notify us before coming, especially if taking medication. Always consult with the psychiatrist about the safety of leaving treatment for a period of time and the best way to do so.
In general, we ask that you always inform us before coming of the type of medication you are taking.
